The Opportunity: 

Mattel is seeking a Manager, Sustainable Supply Chain & Human Rights, based in El Segundo, California to embed human rights-based approaches across Mattel’s value chain, lead responsible sourcing and upstream traceability programs, and support the implementation of risk management protocols and due diligence solutions.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Global Sustainability & Social Impact, the Manager, Sustainable Supply Chain & Human Rights will have the opportunity to partner with a broad range of stakeholders to support worker livelihoods, risk management, supply chain traceability, compliance, and supplier engagement, and work to ensure that functional teams, suppliers, and licensees have the understanding and tools needed to proactively identify and address human rights and environmental risks.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Lead strategy and policy development of Mattel’s human rights and due diligence, responsible sourcing and production, and upstream traceability programs, partnering with key functions (e.g. Legal, EHS, Compliance, Manufacturing/Contract Manufacturing, HR, IT etc.).
  • Partner with core implementation and execution teams to ensure successful implementation of Mattel’s human rights and due diligence, responsible sourcing and production, and upstream traceability programs and policies.
  • Implement mechanisms to support Mattel’s Human Rights Principles and Responsible Supply Chain Commitment.
  • Develop a long-term roadmap and drive implementation of human rights, workplace wellbeing, and supplier due diligence program, identify improvement targets and develop program solutions.
  • Facilitate a cross-functional Steering Committee to strengthen performance across human rights and supply chain sustainability.
  • Partner with Procurement on a supplier engagement program for human and environmental due diligence and develop communication, training materials and pragmatic implementation tools, for internal teams and suppliers.
  • Work cross-functionally to build mechanisms to embed relevant sustainability criteria into supplier and vendor selection process, update criteria periodically, and drive development and advancement of key tools needed to scale programs.
  • Perform/engage consultants to deliver human rights impact assessments and supplier maturity assessments, as necessary.
  • Advance Mattel’s upstream responsible sourcing of raw materials and upstream traceability frameworks and monitoring mechanisms, partnering with cross-functional teams, industry, and other important stakeholder groups to enhance transparency and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Evaluate and advise the Global Sustainability & Social Impact and other functional teams on supply chain risks, market trends, and emerging human rights, raw material, and due diligence policies and regulations.
  • Represent Mattel in multi-stakeholder collaborations on relevant responsible sourcing, traceability, human rights and environmental stewardship topics, as appropriate.
  • Support sustainability and regulatory reporting (e.g. CSRD, Forced Labor and Modern Slavery Statements, etc.).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of experience in sustainability, supply chain/sustainable sourcing, manufacturing, legal/regulatory compliance, or relevant consulting; Advanced Degree a plus
  • Experience with supply chain operations, compliance frameworks, trade and supply chain regulations, and raw material traceability
  • Familiarity with due diligence and corporate sustainability regulatory reporting requirements and supply chain certifications
  • Exposure to risk assessment tools and supplier engagement platforms (e.g. Ecovadis)
  • Experience with relevant sustainability standards and guidelines (e.g. OECD, UNGPRF, GRI)
  • Knowledge of IT/software systems and solutions facilitating traceability and due diligence is a plus
  • Business acumen and a passion for human rights and environmental stewardship
  • Ability to create a well-defined project plan, capturing business requirements and project scope, while sequencing activities and resources.
  • Track record of successfully managing projects to completion including managing cross functional stakeholders/teams, business requirements gathering (e.g., identifying and mapping business needs to application capabilities), building, testing and implementing solutions.
  • Strong critical thinking and business curiosity, including advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, strong ability to work with complex and detailed data to drive insights and decisions.
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $130,000 and $160,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
