BASIC PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing assistance with the preparation and serving of meals and cleaning the kitchen by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the preparation of meals.
- Assists with storage and receipt of food goods received.
- Clean dining room and kitchen.
- Reports problems in writing (Incident report) to Food Services Manager.
- Cleans up including but not limited to dishwashing, cleansing, and sanitizing equipment and systematic cleaning of major appliances.
- Assists Manager with catering duties and driving the van and canteen when necessary.
- Maintains a safe and sanitary environment for food preparation and storage under required conditions.
- Adheres to agency's policies and procedures.
- Attends trainings as required by The Salvation Army.
- Acts as role model within and outside the agency.
- Maintains a positive respectful attitude.
- Communicates regularly with supervisor about food preparation, cafeteria and catering issues.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a person of high integrity, beliefs, and lifestyle, and in agreement with The Salvation Army's mission statement
- Ability to work independently and without daily immediate supervision
- Ability to work in a team environment, and multi-task required duties.
- Must be prepared to encounter a variety of assignments and timelines.
- Be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information.
- Must have an open, welcoming, and helpful presence and attitude with all people.
- Knowledge of The Salvation Army practices policies and organizational resources.
- Must be punctual, organized, reliable, honest, and responsible.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Six month to one year working as a Kitchen Aid.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
- Ability to reach overhead
- Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs. for positions that require lifting.
- Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
