Position Summary:

The UCI Center for Clinical Research (UCI-CCR) is driven to improve the health and wellness of people in Orange County and the world by providing life-saving clinical trials designed to strengthen and accelerate the pathway of discovery from the medical laboratory to the clinic. Built as an excellent clinical research program designed to serve our patients, community, investigators and partners with a high level of efficiency, integrity and quality. Maximizes revenue by ensuring that all charts are closed in a timely manner, verifying Health System payments, and auditing CCR charges to ensure proper charge direction. Ensures funds are allocated appropriately once received. Presents reporting and financial analysis to leadership. Works with leadership and staff to ensure that documentation for research and/or clinical visits meet regulatory standards. Develop budgets for clinical trials. Work with study teams to develop accurate feasibility budgets during the pre-award phase. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Contacts are both internal and external to the department. Review CCR expenditures, projections, and move funds with CCR finance team. Lead on Sales and Service and Research Charge Description Master rate changes, provides guidance to all levels of management on ways to improve effectiveness. Proactively recommends interventions / corrective actions to meet financial goals.

$73,900.00 - $133,700.00 (Annual Salary)


Required:

5 years of progressive financial administrative experience in a healthcare setting

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments. Proven ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Advanced knowledge of clinical information and documentation application programs. Proven ability utilizing clinical trial management systems. Advanced interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization, including but not limited to problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership with other team members; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment. In depth ability to work collaboratively with other cross-functional teams. In depth ability to interface, collaborate and influence / persuade other members of an extended study team. Bachelor's degree or 5 years of progressive financial administrative experience in a healthcare setting Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Advanced knowledge of financial regulatory requirements, UCI Buy system and purchasing. As well as, of clinical research financial practices and philosophy, and ability to apply knowledge and skills to recommend improvements in methodology Certified Procedural Coder (AAPC or similar nationally recognized credential) Certified Professional Biller (CPB) Required In depth critical thinking skills to evaluate issues and identify a potential solution. Creatively addresses complex or new problems

Preferred:

Related Master's (MBA) preferred

Previous experience in a research center setting Advanced ability to effectively lead one or more financial projects while also meeting the demands of a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Adaptable to quickly changing priorities.
