Project Surveyor

Job Summary: Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time time opportunity for a Project Surveyor at our Ontario office. The candidate will ideally have at least 5+ years of land surveying, construction, boundary and topographic surveying. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a premier architectural and engineering firm that's on the leading edge of design and national development.

Reports to: Survey Manager

Employment type: 40 hrs/Full-time

Responsibilities:

Produce CAD drawings on projects including boundary, topographic, land title surveys and construction calculations.
• Assist in reviews and processes results of field surveys.
• Assist in tracking project scopes and budgets.
• Prepare legal descriptions.
• Research survey records and land titles to obtain information regarding property boundaries, areas to be surveyed.
• Coordinate research findings with work of engineers, clients and others involved in projects.
• Verifies accuracy of field survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
• Prepare data, charts, plots maps, records and documents related to surveys.
• Perform other related land survey project tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 to 5 years' experience
• California Professional Land Surveyor registration or about ready to take the LS exam required
• Minimum of 2 to 5 year's experience in mapping and or construction staking
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Experience with Autodesk survey databases
• Knowledge of field staking procedures and interpreting design plans
• Experience with Trimble Business Center for surveying support & GPS adjustments a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook a plus
• Knowledge and experience in the principals and practice of land surveying in California
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills for supervising field crews, and working collaboratively with teams of engineers, architects and sub-contractors
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D required, knowledge of Micro-Station and Trimble Business Center a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, type/key-in data
• May lift and carry up to 50 pounds, hike up and down steep slopes carrying up to 50 pounds of survey equipment.
• The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
• Employee may be asked to walk on uneven terrain.
• May work in extreme weather conditions.
• Bend, squat, dig monument holes, pound in stakes and rebar monuments.
• Carry and use brush cutting equipment
• May drive survey vehicle

Annual Base Salary Range: $125,000-$160,000 depending on experience and qualifications of the selected candidate(s). The expected salary range for this position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed upon compensation is based on the success candidate's individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and consideration to participate in our discretionary annual bonus incentive program.
