Operations Manager

JOB PURPOSE

The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for direct production personnel in Austin, TX. This person will be responsible for meeting daily production goals, training employees on continues process improvements, and maintaining the highest quality standards. The supervisor will be responsible for maintaining level on preventative maintenance schedules. This position will play a key role to drive maximum results in staffing, controlling overtime, and cross train production personnel where required.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities

  • Directing work order assignments and setting training requirements.
  • Scheduling daily priorities, obtaining support from other departments to sustain operations.
  • Evaluating and monitoring subordinate performance and resolving problems.
  • Fosters employee development, accountability, and responsibility.
  • Sets clear consistent group objectives aligned with company's strategic priorities and interacts with all levels of management.
  • Interacts with team members to develop relationships in a work environment that promotes respect, open discussion, and communication.
  • Continually seeks methods to improve quality and productivity. Looks for ways to streamline and complete tasks at a more efficient level.
  • Achievement of product quality and delivery objectives according to plan.
  • Reviews performance data to measure productivity against goals and to determine areas that need improvement.
  • May establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives and procedures, conferring with Manufacturing Manager or senior staff members as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance and governmental regulations by providing plant property and equipment in good condition.
  • Implement and develop solid systems and processes to ensure the overall success of organization and department.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Engineering degree in mechanical / industrial engineering -- Preferred
  • 10-12 year of machine shop experience -- preferablyin contract manufacturing
  • Previous hands on experience in operating / programming a CNC machine -- preferred
  • work knowledge of shop operating metrics
  • expert knowledge of GD&T
  • Establish and sustain a culture that promotes a safe and positive work environment
  • ability to communicateeffectively with other business functions
  • ability to drive change / improvementin process -- set targets , track and improve.
  • strong computer skills
  • Expert knowledge of CNC machines and plant maintenance
