VP, Global Communications

What You Will Be Doing

ChargePoint is recruiting a capable, motivated, and creative professional to join our Global Communications team, supporting all aspects of Communications in a high-visibility role. The position will have a direct hand in the four core competencies of the department, encompassing Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Internal Communications and Social Media. The ideal candidate will already have work experience within Communications and desires a generalist position with exposure to all aspects of the department.

2024 is a pivotal year for ChargePoint, and for the Communications team. The company anticipates profitability by year end, it seeks to strengthen its role as a global leader in EV charging, and has major campaigns planned for businesses, municipalities, and consumers. As the Communications team grows, this position has been created to provide a critical central resource for the team, working at headquarters alongside the VP of Communications.

What You Will Do At ChargePoint
  • In Public Relations and Corporate Communications
    • Help drive company PR efforts for B2B/trade media, increasing autonomy within this category over time
    • Help drive company PR efforts for the Canadian market, evolving into ownership of the market's Communications program over time
    • Support policy communications with an emphasis on state and local level efforts
    • Project manage informational interviews and related activity with Industry Analysts
    • Coordinate non-executive speaking opportunities and industry awards
    • Keep media lists, asset drives, and departmental resources in impeccable order
    • Manage media website and publish material to the newswire
    • Occasional copywriting and media briefs
  • In Internal Communications
    • Manage content and event production for global townhall meetings
    • Develop and distribute key company news material to keep our employees engaged and informed
    • Maintain company intranet from a communications perspective
    • Support Slack channels designated for internal communications
  • In Social Media
    • Support with content generation and production, particularly for content involving employees, or being captured at company headquarters
    • Manage cross-functional elements of social media, liaising with customer support and other key stakeholders
    • Operationally for the Communications Department
    • Track departmental OKR progress globally
  • Support VP of Communications and Director of Corporate Communications with reporting materials and presentations
    • Collect and maintain database of media coverage and metrics
    • Track and maintain communications calendar
    • Be an enthusiastic and energetic stakeholder, bringing the international and remote employees "closer" to our teams at Global Headquarters with fresh ideas, communications tactics, and events
  • Anticipated time allocation of 50% PR & Corporate Communications, 20% Internal Communications, 20% operational activity, and 10% Social Media
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of Communications or Public Relations experience in technology, automotive, or similar spaces which intersect with the world of EV charging
  • Fluency in the English language is a must, with French or German being a major plus
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with the AP style guide
  • Enjoys a fast-paced environment with a workload spread across diverse subject matter
  • Passion for electric mobility and renewable energy is desired
  • Resourceful, creative problem solver, who thrives in unstructured, results-oriented environments and knows how to influence across functions
  • Motivation to learn the mechanics of a global communications department, and a desire to develop their career within the department over time
  • Related B.S./B.A. degree

The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $60,000 to $115,282. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications and specific work location.
