DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Sony global IS organization (GISC IC) supports Sony Group companies worldwide, including Sony Corporation (Electronics), Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation), Sony Pictures Entertainment, Sony Music Publishing, and more.

As part of its cloud adoption strategy, the End User Productivity - Cloud Workforce Productivity (EUP CWP) team has deployed Microsoft 365 for end user productivity and collaboration tools such as Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and others. To support this ongoing transformation, we have identified several key roles to ensure that GISC IC can adequately support the business through this period of change and to ensure that Sony can maximize the benefit from its investment in Microsoft 365.

The GISC IC EUP CWP team is seeking a self-driven intern with experience in Microsoft 365 technologies such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), etc. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated undergrad or graduate intern who will help to build and automate everyday business processes to improve efficiency and increase productivity.

This is a long-term internship opportunity that will be based in Los Angeles (Culver City). This role will be Hybrid (minimum 2 days in office, preferably 3). The intern is expected to work full-time (40 hours) during the summer, with the possibility to extend the internship part-time (minimum of 20 hours) during the school year (if available).

RESPONSIBLITIES & DUTIES:

  • Contribute to CWP team's initiatives related to Microsoft 365 tools & services such as Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Power Platform, etc.

  • Gather and document business requirements for applications, workflows, bots, and other custom tools.

  • Design application user interfaces and dashboard templates based on requirements.

  • Create automated workflows to automate business processes.

  • Conduct testing/UAT of custom tools and of new Microsoft 365 features.

  • Create user documentation in order to support Microsoft 365 tools and custom tools.

  • Research, test, and document new features and give presentations for internal team members.

  • Effectively research and understand emerging tools & development practices as Microsoft platforms and services are rapidly evolving.

  • Work efficiently within a distributed Agile team setup.

  • Strive for quality, proactive in solutioning & development discussions.

  • Work closely with a team of Global Product Owners, Technical Architects, and Business Analysts, as well as remote team members such as offshore development team members.

  • Communicate and collaborate with IT/IS colleagues and end users from other Sony Group companies across multiple time zones/regions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Self-Starter: Does not need to be told what to do. Takes initiative, solves problems, and conducts research on their own.

  • Strong Communication skills: Can answer questions directly and efficiently, and if they do not know the answer, they research to find it. Has the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong Work Ethic: Comfortable taking ownership of a task, and working with multiple groups (technical operations, legal, governance, information security, product owners) to complete a task.

  • Analytical: Can either do or learn how to analyze data and provide solutions based on what the data represents.

  • Technical/Logical Thinking: Must quickly learn new technologies and tools, feel comfortable with data visualization and data analytics, as well as programmatic solutioning/logical thinking. Use of automation is a plus!

  • User Experience Focus: Understands the basics of good UI/UX and has a user/customer-focused mindset.

  • Fluency in English; Japanese is a plus

  • Rising college seniors/graduates preferred.

  • Previous relevant internship (such as business analyst, product owner, or other corporate IT role) and coursework experience strongly preferred.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • All candidates must be enrolled in a degree seeking program.

  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the US.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in business systems analysis, technical design documents & flow diagrams.

  • Experience in Microsoft 365 tools such as Teams, SharePoint Online, Power Apps, Power Automate

  • Experience in low code/no code automation and application development

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft 365 Admin Center and Microsoft Teams settings and policies - preferably experience with PowerShell, Graph API, and/or Azure AD/Entra ID

  • Knowledge and experience in programming/markup languages such as C#, .NET/Core framework, HTML5, CSS, JS, etc.

  • Basic understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies and project management

EDUCATION:

  • Current undergraduate (preferably rising junior/senior) or graduate degree in progress with major(s) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related subjects is preferred.

  • Other majors, such as humanities/social sciences, are acceptable as long as the candidate possesses strong technical aptitude and excellent written/verbal communication skills.

The target hourly rate for this internship is $21.00 per hour. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
