The salary range for this role is:

$71,127.68 - $120,831.36

Responsibilities:

The Material Master Specialist is part of a team that manages and is responsible for the finished goods, semi-finished goods, and procure to sell goods in SAP material master. The SAP material master data set is critical to allow proper functionality across multiple business processes including, demand planning, production planning, distribution center operations, customer service, sales order processing, invoicing, and financial reporting. Without accurate master data, all other segments will not function properly. This position:

  • Manages the processes to create, maintain, and deactivate material master data per Master Data Governance rules.
  • Interacts with cross-functional partners that participate in the creation and maintenance of materials as well as those that use material master data to ensure data integrity.
  • Provides training and guidance to cross-functional teams on material master processes and the impact of material master data across the various functions within the SAP system.
  • Processes and executes Change Requests in MDG in an accurate and timely manner based on existing Data Governance Rules. This includes but is not limited to material creation, plant extensions, corrections, and discontinuations.
  • Creates and issues material codes and assign corresponding UPC codes based on the Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN) allocation rules set by the global system of supply chain standards (GS1).
  • Ensures proper utilization of the Material Master Tracker for substitutions and material blocks to confirm all requests have appropriate approvals, supporting documentation, and that work is done and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates and communicates routinely with diverse cross-functional teams relative to the processes and data necessary to execute changes in material master.
  • Extracts SAP data to participate in periodic reviews of material master data to maintain data accuracy and integrity for both active materials and materials that are being deactivated.
  • Serves as Help Desk for Material Master, CR process, and MDG related topics to resolve user non-IT issues.
  • Provides guidance and training to cross-functional team members on any new requirements in regard to finished goods, semi-finished goods and procure to sell goods (FERT, HALB, and HAWA) related to material master.
  • Researches and troubleshoots the I-Doc error log and Help Desk tickets related to the material master area of responsibility.
  • Validates and approves the accuracy of the UPC/GTIN, Material Number, and Case Description on corrugate artwork provided by Procurement.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of SAP, Manufacturing, Finance, and Distribution systems and the impact of material master file information on these areas.
  • Understands, provides guidance, and maintains the UPC and exclusion determination tables in conjunction with Inventory Management and Customer Service.
  • Participates in material master file transition activities for acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Provides back-up to other master data functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in logistics related field is preferred or significant related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in CPG/manufacturing/logistics with 2 years SAP Material Master experience preferred.
  • Knowledge regarding the impact of accurate material master data on various functional areas.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the CPG supply chain and product life cycle.
  • Basic knowledge of GS1 standards and GTIN allocation rules.
  • Ability to innovate and streamline processes to be more efficient and effective.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Capability to independently develop and generate reports through SAP and Analysis for Excel is highly desirable.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to work well both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Comprehensive functional/technical aptitude and PC skills in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus but similar ERP software experience can be substituted.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and provide guidance to cross-functional partners.
