Overview

The Shop Foreman (Non-Wrenching) oversees our service department's shop floor operations, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality repairs. Responsible for supervising technicians, dispatching repair orders to technicians, managing workflow, internal/external communications on repair status, and maintaining safety standards. This role is crucial for delivering exceptional service to our customers. Strong leadership, technical expertise, teamwork, and a dedication to excellence are key for success in this position.

Responsibilities
    Dispatch repair orders to technicians with the appropriate skill levels, control wage costs through technician productivity and proper scheduling, and review repair orders for accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Be active and present on the shop floor for the technician team to minimize non-billable time, assist technicians with difficult diagnostics/repairs, remove roadblocks to keep them productive, communicate any additional repairs or maintenance needs to Service Advisors and keep them informed of potential issues/estimate adjustment requests.
  • Stay up to date with technical knowledge, repair procedures, and best practices for the equipment service and repair to ensure technicians are optimizing production and minimizing customer downtime.
  • Train and enforce company policies and procedures, safety rules and regulations, and environmental rules and regulations. Keep shop clean and safe, and work areas clean and free from debris.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies, establishing security procedures to protect dealership assets.
  • Perform inspections of work in progress and upon completion to ensure it meets required standards, estimating parts and labor for repairs.
  • Notify Service Manager immediately upon observance of violations of company policy.
  • Follow TEC's standard operating procedures and safety procedures with limited supervision, including but not limited to: Understanding and following OSHA regulations; Attending training, departmental meetings, and Trade Shows and Conferences as requested by management; Following Uptime requirements and adapting to changes in the Uptime process as directed by administrators (Volvo/Mack Dealers Only).

Qualifications
  • 3+ years in a heavy-duty Diesel Technician position
  • Master-level knowledge of heavy-duty truck diagnosis and repair
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of heavy-duty truck industry & business acumen
  • General knowledge of truck parts inventory and sales process
  • Above average organization and time management skills & basic computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to hold technical conversations with independent owners/operators, business owners, transportation managers, and municipality officials
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English & ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Intermediate knowledge of industry communication tools e.g. computer, Windows, Microsoft Office, invoicing systems, etc. and applications
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and active listening skills.
  • Ability to act as a team leader and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to adhere to branch's standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
Compensation
The base pay range for this position is $35.09 to $43.86.
