Build your career with an industry leader! Vomela West located in Santa Fe Springs, CA has an exciting opportunity for a Layout/Prepress Operator to join our team. This position will be responsible for creating graphic floor plans and elevations based on architectural drawings, surveys, etc. Functions as coordinator to handle all work involved in preparing files for print, including layout, design, color correction and troubleshooting production issues as they arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provides layouts and/or elevation drawings for customer approval and production reference.

* Communicates with the customers and the sales staff to understand the prepress needs of the customer.

* Provides a format for quality control that is technically superior to that of our competitors.

* Supervises re-creation of existing parts from competitors and coordinates this with project planning and sales to assure parts are manufactural.

* Supervises transfer of files from design and CAD to prepress in order to ensure that prototypes are accurately produced to represent how they would be in manufacturing.

* Acts as resource to digital printing when product acceptability is in question. May communicate with customers on technical issues on their behalf.

* Provides an effective interface between customers, sales and production.

SKILLS:

* Must be experienced in four color process prepress output.

* Must understand digital printing and the generation of digital-printing artwork.

* Must be conversant in CAD/CAM applications and Design Software. i.e. Adobe Illustrator

* Must be able to provide prepress specifications for the construction of production parts.

* Act as an advisor to digitally printed jobs and prototypes.

* Must be a good communicator and able to interface with customers and other departments at multiple levels.

* Must be a good listener and willing to provide what the customer and the company needs are with solutions to problems.

* A good understanding of architectural floorplans and elevations.

* Able to work in architectural scales.

* BS or BA degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture or related field preferred, or Technical/Trade School education with the equivalent in work experience and training; or

* Equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Five or more years' experience in creative design with emphasis in computer design, and design project coordination.

SALARY RANGE:

$25 to $28 per hour with opportunity for overtime as needed
