The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. SUMMARY:

SMBC is one of the largest global banks, operating across 30+ countries, including the United States, we have chartered to build a new digital bank in US for SMBC, we intend to disrupt the digital banking landscape with "banking the way it should be" and an innovative collection of banking products and services. We are on a mission to build the best digital banking experience for our customers, and we are looking for an Head of Architecture and Strategy who can help lead this mission. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist CIO and leadership team in establishing business aligned strategic technology direction and architecture vision for the organization.
  • Develop short and long-term strategic technology plans to enable the company to meet its business vision.
  • Defines target state technology architecture and roadmaps.
  • Determine and influence the right drivers, investments needed, and process disciplines to accelerate achievement of business objectives.
  • Seek to relentlessly simplify a complex technology ecosystem through continuous process improvement and integration, coupled with a keen focus on talent identification and focus to address the challenge. Efforts may be related to the deployment of emerging technologies, as well as a constant focus upon automation to improve customer experience.
  • Proactively advise the senior management team on the emerging technologies and digital trends that are most relevant to the company's goals and objectives.
  • Utilize market research, business insights and situational analysis to enhance or modify the direction of the technology initiatives.
  • Work with the senior leadership within Technology and Business to develop architecture priorities and direction to enable business imperatives.
  • Displays strong thought leadership in pursuit of modern architecture principles and technology modernization.
  • Drives continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt.
  • Looks for opportunities to capitalize on technological advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential impact on the enterprise.
  • Ensures alignment of IT initiatives with the target state
  • Builds strong partnership with engineering to ensure proper alignment of skills with technology direction.
  • Continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of the architecture
  • Other duties as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 15+ years engineering experience with 4+years in Digital Architecture and Technology
  • Experience leading Strategy & Technology transformation programs
  • Experience in technology architecture and emerging technologies
  • Expert oral and written communication skills with ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Coaching and talent development skills including the ability to mentor and motivate others.
  • Organizational and transformational experience in an agile, or similar, operating model or mindset.
  • Experience in establishing strategic technology direction and architecture vision for the organization.
  • Developed technology target state, roadmaps that aligned to short and long-term business goals.
  • Stays attuned to relevant market conditions and trends in to drive effective discussion of technologies and their market impacts.
  • Understand internal business unit organizational structure and how it impacts delivery.
  • Proven track record of influencing senior leadership.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Experienced with large scale technology platforms.
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  • Proven track record in developing and managing diverse technologies and systems.
  • Experience in working with matrix environment, large corporation/group companies' environment.
  • Experience in supporting regulatory exams and audits, prioritizing, and completing critical findings.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
