Mott MacDonald, a global engineering consultant is looking for an Assistant Project Manager in LA, who has expert knowledge in rail and transportation project development and delivery.

The ideal candidate will assist the Project Manager in overseeing the execution and management of their project(s) by being responsible for ensuring the schedule, budget and details of a given task(s) are well organized. Communicate with various departments to keep everyone on board about any changes to the project plan. In addition, you will assist or lead the effort to organize reporting, plan meetings and provide updates to project managers. The candidate will oversee multiple tasks and will be involved in projects from planning through construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily project progress and handle or assist in any issues that arise
  • Providing detailed updates to project managers or other stakeholders
  • Organizing reports, invoices, contracts, and other financial files for easy access
  • Assist or oversee project procurement
  • Act as the point of contact and communicate project status to all participants
  • Work with the Project Manager to eliminate project blockers
  • Use tools to monitor working hours, plans and expenditures, total project cost
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports
  • Ensure project standards and requirements are met through life of projects

Candidate Specification :

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering or related field or a combination of 10+ years of experience in project coordination and management in the railway industry
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant project management/ coordination experience
  • Knowledge and experience with Rail Vehicles (LRV, HRV) is a plus
  • Proven work experience as an assitant project manager, document controller, project coordinator, or similar role
  • Proven problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management
  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc


Salary Range: $90,000 - $115,000
