STATUS: Exempt, regular full-time
DEPT/LOCATION: Commercial Lending - Central Region / Goleta, CA - Santa Barbara, CA

Job Summary and Scope of Responsibility: Source, cultivate, establish and maintain relationships with commercial clients. Facilitate the negotiation and origination of commercial lending, deposit and cash management where appropriate to the needs of the client.

  • Identify and cultivate leads and opportunities for new business development. Includes cold-calling, regularly conducting in-person calls with prospects, centers of influence (COIs) and existing clients at their places of business, and attendance at or membership in various community and industry organizations and community events.
  • Establish relationships with potential business clients to identify their credit, deposit and cash management needs. Collaborate with internal partners to develop and present proposals to prospective clients. Facilitate the negotiation and sale of appropriate banking solutions.
  • Facilitate the introduction of new and existing clients to internal and external business partners to promote the sale of additional bank products and services, where appropriate to the needs and interests of the client.
  • Manage existing client relationships, in-person, as much as possible, to ensure their service needs are met and our risk management protocols are followed. Collaborate with internal partners to ensure client satisfaction and retention.

Minimum Qualifications to Perform Essential Functions:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to meet production goals on a consistent basis.
  • Effective business development and sales skills.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of business management and planning tools, including financial statements and ratios, inventory and accounts receivable.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal/state banking regulations.
  • Effective math skills, including ratios, percentages, interest and amortization.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements and cash flows, business reports and legal documents
  • Professional demeanor, speaking and presentation skills; effective business writing skills.
  • Ability to execute a highly targeted prospecting plan; conduct networking to create and identify opportunities for the Bank.
  • Ability to establish partnering relationships with other areas of the bank, resulting in additional cross-sells/portfolio growth.
  • Actively participate in various community and civic activities within the community.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate community outreach and reputational enhancement.
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain required licenses and certifications.
  • Computer proficiency, including Windows and Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Proficiency at speaking, reading and writing English.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions under general supervision.


Experience and/or Education:

  • Four-year degree in business/ accounting or equivalent training/experience.
  • Two years of commercial lending experience, or equivalent training and experience.
  • Established commercial client relationships and portfolio in market area, preferred.

Travel/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to travel to client and business event locations (driving requires continuous possession of a valid driver's license and the minimum level of auto insurance).


Excellent benefits package for eligible employees and their families. Competitive salary BOE in the range of $130,000 - $180,000 Annually.
