Systems Administrator II

Salary Range: $104,280 - $161,634
The expected pay range is based on many factors, such as experience, education, and the market. The range is subject to change.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Systems Administrator II maintains company infrastructure including all the hardware and applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below.

  1. Install and support networks, servers, storage, security systems and configure software, hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements and in keeping with best practice protocols in protection of data and protected health information.
  2. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, networks, server resources, storage systems, and key processes. Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs including backups.
  3. Perform and/or QC daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off-site as necessary.
  4. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
  5. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
  6. Perform network, server and storage performance reporting to support capacity planning.
  7. Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization and configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  8. Develop and recommend security standards, recommend network hardware and software, and select network management software to maintain HIPAA standards and a virus free environment.
  9. In collaboration with the Director of Infrastructure and Support, evaluate and establish project priorities, develop goals and objectives, and maintain compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
  10. Train staff to integrate and automate software features into daily operations company wide and provide assistance to staff as needed.
  11. Manage network Firewall, Antispam, Antivirus, and Web filtering devices, SSL certificates, and PGP encryption.
  12. Manage remote access and remote desktop software.
  13. Manage Exchange, Helpdesk Support, FTP, SFTP, and Network Monitoring applications.
  14. Document procedures, configuration, and topology.
  15. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required or desired.

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or related field, or equivalent experience, training or coursework. (R)
  2. Minimum seven years progressively responsible work experience with the duties and responsibilities described above. (R)
  3. CCNP, MCSA, MCSE, VMware, and Citrix certifications. (D)
  4. Knowledge of all versions of Microsoft Exchange. (D)
  5. Knowledge of networking, virtualization and server maintenance. (R)
  6. Ability to administer servers, network, and security. (R)
  7. Ability to conduct network architecture, analysis, and design. (R)
  8. Ability to perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization. (R)
  9. Ability to create, maintain, and update documentation pertaining to processes. (R)
  10. Ability to keep IT informed of system and operational data center issues. (R)
  11. Ability to develop monthly reports on security attacks and remediation. (R)
  12. Strong working knowledge and the ability to efficiently operate all applicable computer software including Outlook. Word, Excel and Visio. (R)
  13. Ability to use a keyboard with moderate speed and a high level of accuracy. (R)
  14. Excellent communication skills including the ability to express oneself clearly and concisely when providing service to SCFHP internal departments, and outside entities over the telephone, in person or in writing. (R)
  15. Ability to think and work effectively under pressure and accurately prioritize and complete tasks within established timeframes. (R)
  16. Ability to assume responsibility and exercise good judgment when making decisions within the scope of the position. (R)
  17. Ability to maintain confidentiality. (R)
  18. Ability to comply with all SCFHP policies and procedures. (R)
  19. Ability to perform the job safely and with respect to others, to property and to individual safety. (R)
WORKING CONDITIONS

Generally, duties are primarily performed in an office environment while sitting or standing at a desk. Incumbents are subject to regular contact with co-workers, managers, external partners, and vendors in person, by telephone and via work-related electronic communications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Incumbents must be able to perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  1. Mobility Requirements: regular bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; and sit or stand for extended periods of time. (R)
  2. Lifting Requirements: regularly lift and carry files, notebooks, and office supplies that may weigh up to 5 pounds. (R)
  3. Visual Requirements: ability to read information in printed materials and on a computer screen; perform close-up work; clarity of vision is required at 20 inches or less. (R)
  4. Dexterity Requirements: regular use of hands, wrists, and finger movements; ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboard); writing (note-taking); ability to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. (R)
  5. Hearing/Talking Requirements: ability to hear normal speech, hear and talk to exchange information in person and on telephone. (R)
  6. Reasoning Requirements: ability to think and work effectively under pressure; ability to effectively serve customers; decision making, maintain a concentrated level of attention to information communicated in person, by telephone, and electronically throughout a typical workday; attention to detail. General office conditions. May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
