DESCRIPTION

This is a Nurse Manager position in a shared leadership model supporting Postpartum and L&D at Jacobs Medical Center and the LDRP at Hillcrest. This position will work with L&D leadership to oversee departmental resources, patient flow, and quality with as much delineation of individual roles as possible.

The Nurse Manager is involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and/or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s). Promotes environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, patient experience and cost-effectiveness of patient care.

Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care. Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students and others. Manages nursing and administrative operations in specific patient care areas. Implements changes to patient workflows and operational processes. Maintains 24 hour line management responsibility for the administration of fiscal, material and human resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • NRP certification.

  • Fetal Monitoring Certification within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Five (5+) or more years of relevant experience in a large acute care hospital.

  • Labor and delivery, postpartum, and/or newborn experience, preferably high-risk.

  • Minimum three (3) years of charge and/or supervisory experience.

  • Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services and patient flow.

  • Proven knowledge to manage sentinel events, and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology, patient care workflows, and processes.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.

  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or relevant area.

  • Specialty certification: RNC, NE-BC, and/or CNML.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $140,400 - $279,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $67.24 - $133.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
