The Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned patient care areas, in order to provide quality, individualized patient care and support of Medical Center philosophies. The Nurse Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by providing a clinically competent staff; encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in-service and formal education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount. The Nurse Manager supports research, participates in both long- and short-term strategic planning, and assures patient advocacy. The Nurse Manager is accountable to the Practice Manager and Director of Ambulatory Nursing Practice.

Department Description
The Outpatient Surgery Clinic provides consultative, pre-operative and follow-up care for patients seen across eight surgical specialties, and possibly growing in the future. We provide outpatient support for the multidisciplinary Bariatric Center of Excellence program, which incorporates both surgical and non-surgical weight loss programs; the regional Burn and Trauma Centers in addition to Acute Care Surgery; patients of Colorectal Surgery; Patients of Hand Plastics and General Plastic Surgery; and Cardiac Surgery, including its VAD program. Services are provided at the C St UCDH Clinic, UCDH Cypress Building, and in the future at the UCDH 48X Building.
