Job Summary
This key position will be integral in using data to support the Division of Hematology, Department of Pediatrics' research, clinical, and operational missions. This position is responsible for the design, specifications, coding, testing, implementation, maintenance, documentation, debugging, and troubleshooting of data warehouse solutions. Its work includes analyzing source system data and existing data flows, designing dimensional data models, developing ETLs, and creating data visualization products such as reports and dashboards. The position plays a critical role in requirement gathering, project plan planning, technical architecture design, go-live implementation, and ongoing system support. In addition to these duties, the position is required to perform any other tasks assigned to support the division's functions.
A data engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, documenting, and maintaining data warehouse and analytics architecture to meet UCSF's data and analytics needs.

Department Description
This Data Engineer will work directly with the Division of Hematology, Department of Pediatrics and the Service Line Director for the UCSF Benioff Children's Cancer, Blood Disorders, and Cellular Therapies Service Line. This key role will be the go-to data engineer and analyst for the multiple UCSF campuses and satellite locations. It also spans inpatient and outpatient pediatric oncology, pediatric hematology, bone marrow transplant, lifespan sickle cell programs, immuno-and cellular curative therapies, etc. The Division's mission is to advance discovery and improvements in care for persons with hematological disorders, with a particular focus on social determinants of health and ensuring access to competent care in a setting of cultural humility.
In addition to the service line and the Division of Hematology, this role will work with the Enterprise Information and Analytics (EIA) department to advance UCSF's institutional priorities by enhancing access to and the use of data and analytics, including appropriate data platforms and data governance, in a manner that meets the unique needs across the education, research, and care mission areas. The EIA department archives its goals by working with clinical, research, education, and business partners to organize, integrate, govern, and transform UCSF's data assets into actionable insight and information.
