Position Summary

Under general supervision of the DOH Facilities Supervisor, the Facilities Assistant is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all buildings located at the Door of Hope campus and some janitorial duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Perform general maintenance review to ensure structures (including residential units), fixtures, and appliances are in an operable and safe working condition.
  • Perform general repairs to units to restore quality and establish occupancy including limited plumbing and electrical upkeep.
  • Perform janitorial duties to include trash/recycling and clearing units of participant belongings.
  • Assist with managing, storing, and relocation of inventory including donations and furnishings.
  • Assist with landscaping and volunteer projects at Door of Hope campus, as needed.
  • Assist in keeping maintenance shop and vehicles clean and organized.
  • Assist Facilities Supervisor in supervising vendors for onsite repairs.
  • Complete work orders promptly and notify Supervisor if any work cannot be completed.
  • Report any larger repairs or safety hazards to Facilities Supervisor.

Duties include but are not limited to the items listed above. As the need arises, you may need to perform other duties necessary to maintain the property in a clean, safe, and healthy condition. Attention to detail is required with an emphasis on safety and aesthetic good judgment.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift to 50lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer and telephone.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of progressively responsible experience in construction. A combination of training and/or experience is also acceptable.
  • Minimum High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate well in English.

  • Detail oriented, self-starter.
  • Polite, professional and team player.
  • Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes.
  • Must be able to perform work activities that require negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading, or speaking with others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.
  • Maintain a customer service mindset.
  • Skilled in the proper and safe use of tools, equipment, materials, chemicals, and products common to the construction industry.

High School or Equivalent (required)

Experience
2 years: Progressively Experience In Construction A Combination Of Training And/or Experience Is Also Acceptable. (required)
