The Opportunity

Envision impacting the lives of 500 million users through design leadership. That's what motivates us in Adobe Document Cloud. We're looking for a VP of Design for Document Cloud, someone with a great sense of both user experience and product to lead the experience for Acrobat, Sign, and Scan. Partnering with product and engineering executives in crafting the strategic direction of the Document Cloud business unit; responsible for turning strategies into actionable opportunities, and driving design excellence throughout product development cycles.


You'll manage an impactful team of creatives by demonstrating your care of design craft and details, and love for our products and consumers. You'll navigate ambiguity with data-informed decision making, and bringing to bear your past experiences as a design leader. You'll be excited about the opportunity to help us set the standard for Adobe's world-class design organization.

What you'll Do
  • Coach and mentor designers and design leaders, hire and attract top-notch talent to the team, and foster a culture where designers grow, learn and do their best work.

  • Build a collaborative environment and encourage deep partnership with cross-functional teams.

  • Set a high bar for design craft, and define and execute design.

  • Delegate to senior leaders, co-leading creation and articulating vision and opportunities for Document Cloud.

  • Demonstrate a bias towards action to deliver experiences at the intersection of high user value and business needs.

  • Bring a deep curiosity about the potential of generative AI to shape better experiences.

  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to set roadmaps, planning the development and delivery of products at the highest level of quality and experience.

  • Contribute to the annual planning process that culminates in a presentation to Adobe's Executive Staff, working closely with Product, Engineering, GTM, and other key collaborators on Strategic and Operating plans.

  • Envision complex design and user experience ecosystems, and inspire teams to push the boundaries of what's possible.

  • Develop a clear vision of the future of design and user experience, and have the courage to pursue forward-thinking design.

  • Manage trade-offs, make decisions, and ensure alignment in the face of ambiguity.

  • Serve as a strong, influential voice to ensure we're tracking against our key initiatives.


What you need to succeed

Professional Experience & Qualifications::

The VP of Design, Document Cloud will have 10+ years of people leadership and management experience in software product experience design and cloud-native/SaaS businesses. They will be a design leader with a passion for developing and shipping products with a high bar for quality and user experience.


Additional qualifications include:

  • Proven track record of leading the design of large-scale product offerings and systems within a high growth, global, and matrixed environment.

  • Demonstrated technical competence and expertise in experience design for consumer products, enterprise products, including web apps and native mobile apps.

  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a distributed, cross-functional, globally dispersed design organization.

  • Proven track record of applying creative thinking and analysis to solve business needs in ambiguous environments.

  • Proven experience maintaining and fostering a culture of excellence by recruiting, hiring, and retaining impactful individuals with an eye towards diversity.

People, Product, and Process Leadership

Deep knowledge and expertise across design disciplines and product sense. Ability to be a sounding board and thought partner to design leaders and senior ICs on the team. The ideal candidate balances vision and execution, demonstrates curiosity, and surfaces novel connections in the work of their teams. They can zoom out and see the big picture. They lead empathically by fostering an inclusive and empowering culture. They should have prior experience leading global teams and designing scaled consumer-grade applications. Ability to influence partners to drive strategy and roadmap. Ability to and interest in impacting operational processes to deliver great design.


Organizational Savvy

A deep understanding of matrixed organizations and what it takes to get things done. Ability to demonstrate leadership in communicating complex ideas effectively at the executive level. Ability to drive and influence OKRs, taking joint accountability for successes or failures of business results informed by design. Understanding of how to partner with peers in a design organization, including program operations, user research, prototyping, and content strategists.

Storytelling and Communication

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex problem spaces and the strategies behind design decisions. Strong presentation and storytelling skills with the ability to adjust messaging across different levels in an organization.

Collaboration and Transparency

Your default mode is to partner with your peers, promoting a user-centric culture to product, engineering, and product marketing teams.

Adobe Design creates tools that amplify the world's ability to create and communicate. We're a global team of designers, researchers, prototypers, content strategists, program managers, and more who work across Adobe's three product lines: Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, and Experience Cloud.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $204,800 -- $429,500 annually. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
