Job Description
The University of California, Riverside (UCR) Library is seeking nominations and applications for an experienced, energetic, and innovative professional to fill the Metadata Cataloger position in the Acquisitions, Description and Discovery (ADD) department. The UCR Library is building a team of intensely collaborative, forward-thinking colleagues dedicated to providing excellent services to our students, faculty, and community members in a rapidly evolving information environment. The successful candidate will be an experienced and technologically sophisticated cataloger; committed to problem-solving in local, regional, and national arenas; and able to develop innovative solutions to complex cataloging and database quality control projects and issues. Reporting to the Director of the Acquisitions, Description, and Discovery (ADD) within the Content and Discovery Division, the Metadata Cataloger performs original and copy cataloging and metadata creation for monographs, continuing resources, collections, digital objects, and other resources in various languages and formats using standard library technology and cataloging/metadata tools and standards. The Metadata Cataloger works with the Library's ILS (Alma/Primo) and OCLC WorldCat, as well as digital asset systems such as Omeka and California Digital Library (CDL) systems and services. The Metadata Cataloger will participate, and may assume a leadership role, in special projects involving metadata creation, catalog maintenance, and quality control. Acquisitions, Description, and Discovery operates by developing, using, and enhancing repeatable and well-documented processes and procedures to achieve an efficient, reliable, and sustainable metadata creation and maintenance environment that helps ensure that library resources are effectively managed. Best practices and superior customer service are included in all our efforts. Teamwork, collaboration, and the ability to tactfully communicate and share ideas with an interdisciplinary group of staff, patrons, and colleagues is essential. Our environment is dynamic, challenging, and requires the ability to handle shifting priorities. The University Library organization includes two physical libraries on the Riverside campus. The full salary range for the Metadata Cataloger is $58,150.80 - $85,921.20 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
