Position Description

Job Title: RF/Microwave Engineer

Duties: Participate in the development, analysis and evaluation of advanced space and ground-based microwave and millimeter-wave communication and radar units including receivers, transmitters, and associated circuits. Investigate performance anomalies in microwave and millimeter-wave electronics at both circuit and higher levels of integration. Evaluate state-of-the-art technology, system architectures and RF system integration/test issues as applied to communication and radar systems. Duties will include both laboratory and analytical evaluation of components and systems. Supplement laboratory investigations with advanced software tools ADS, HFSS, Matlab, and SPW. Interface with program offices, military and commercial customers and external contractors for the exchange of technical information and evaluation of contractor-developed space payloads and ground systems. Participate in research in areas such as radar unit design, microwave measurements, and passive components.
Qualifications: M.S. science or engineering with laboratory experience. Specialization in RF/microwave hardware test and/or design or RF/microwave systems with a hardware emphasis is highly desirable. Familiarity with microwave laboratory environment and test equipment is required. Working knowledge of digital circuitry is a plus. Strong analytical skills are essential. Familiarity with Matlab and Labview is a plus. Applicant must have excellent interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relations as part or leader of a technical team. Enthusiasm, a high degree of ingenuity, good judgment, demonstrable initiative and self-motivation in the performance of work assignments is essential. Well-developed written and oral communication skills are a must. Current Special Background Investigation (SBI), or the ability to obtain one, is required.
