SEIU is a national leader in fighting for secure and affordable health care for all, living wages, affirmative action and the rights of all workers regardless of immigration status.

Job Description: SEIU’s Research Department provides critical support to a wide range of SEIU campaigns and initiatives. The Research Dept is integrated into all facets of campaigns, including industry and company analysis as part of identifying new markets for organizing, strategic research and development for ongoing campaigns and public policy analysis.

The Senior Research Analyst will be hired by SEIU’s Research Dept or by one of the locals.

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND SHOULD INCLUDE SOME OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Ability to do complex financial analyses, as well as to identify key questions and appropriate methodology to develop analyses
  • Ability to critically assess a firm’s business strategy and qualitative information on industries and companies and to assess the validity of outside analyses
  • Ability to analyze budgets and financing, and lead campaigns addressing workforce issues
  • Ability to analyze complex public policy issues that affect workers from union/campaign perspective
  • Ability to independently craft and implement union campaign agenda and relevant tactics
  • Ability to apply awareness of industry to programmatic decisions
  • Ability to substantially contribute to strategy development and then clearly articulate and evaluate strategy
  • Ability to independently develop a range of written products and presentations
  • Ability to use advanced Excel; familiarity with SPSS a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of higher level data analysis techniques. MBA or CFA a plus
  • Strong commitment to progressive social change and activist experience
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines and in a team environment
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours when needed to meet campaign demands
