RAND has eight offices on three continents and RAND research teams work with government, corporate, and foundation clients domestically and internationally to advance informed decision making across a broad spectrum of policy areas.
Position Description
RAND is seeking an experienced fundraising and development professional to serve as the Associate Executive Director of Development, assisting with the management, budgeting and administration of RAND's Development Office, including approximately 15 full time staff. The Associate Executive Director will assist with recruiting and stewarding Advisory Board members who make an annual philanthropic commitment, and solicit major gifts to support RAND priorities. The Associate Executive Director will report to the Executive Director of Development within the Office of External Affairs and work closely with a team that includes directors of community relations, outreach, Internet communications, congressional relations, and media relations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Planning and leading initiatives designed to develop and expand relationships with current
and potential donors across RAND.

- Preparing written and oral presentations of development program and gift opportunities to
internal audiences, prospects and donors, and volunteer leaders.

- Participating in annual budget, business planning, and personnel evaluation processes.

- Cultivating and soliciting major gifts.

- Creating and advancing strategic development plan for philanthropic support and annual goal
setting.
Qualifications
- Experience creating strategic and business plans for development programs.
- Experience raising funds from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Experience supervising and managing development officers.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the Office of External Affairs and on
research teams.
Education Requirements
BA/BS degree is required. Graduate degree is a plus.
Experience
A minimum of 8 years of experience is required.
