Job Title: Senior Navigation Engineer

Duties: Provide technical and programmatic support to the Aerospace Navigation Division and the Air Force Global Positioning Systems Wing (GPSW) in the area of GPS User Equipment. Work closely with members of a diverse team comprising military officers from all branches of service, military officers from allied countries, Government civilians, prime contractors, the GPSW SE&I contractor, peer FFRDC entities such as MITRE and SEI, and laboratories such as AFRL, SNL, CERDEC, and SPAWAR. Members of the Aerospace User Segment Directorate work on the development of new military GPS receivers and receiver technologies, assessment of RF based threats to military GPS users, development of military GPS antennas and their associated electronics, advanced study initiatives to improve future military GPS user equipment, policy and security issues including road maps both for technology and for fielding. Provide anomaly resolution and product improvement for existing user equipment including DAGR, MAGR, and GB-GRAM. Duties include participation in all phases of the acquisition process, requirements development, contract oversight, technology planning and development, source selections, technology readiness assessments, security process development and certification, and participation in international arrangements. This fast paced position involves daily intense customer interaction and the ability to form ETG teams to bring the full resources of The Aerospace Corporation to bear on the issues facing the GPS User Segment.
Qualifications: A minimum of 12 years relevant experience required, with a Bachelor's degree required (advanced degree preferred) in Engineering, Mathematics or Physical Sciences. Prefer previous experience in the acquisition process. Demonstrated ability to form and lead teams required. This position requires a GPS receiver expert, proficient in both system-level and design-level considerations, with demonstrated ability to identify User Segment benefits and impacts of various system level initiatives. Demonstrated experience in several of the following areas is essential: GPS receiver development and design; military applications of GPS; high-end GPS applications; Navigation Warfare. Strong analysis capabilities, writing ability, and presentation skills required. Previous project leadership and proven ability to work effectively with US Military Officers, their support contractors, Aerospace support, and prime contractors highly desired. Current SBI preferred.
