Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
This position will support NIWC Pacific's Depot Level Repair Facility. The proposed technical effort is to aid in the repair/refurbishment of RF and RADAR antenna systems currently configured for US Navy and US Air Force fielded systems. The ideal candidate will have the expertise to work with schematics, engineering drawings, written or verbal instructions to assemble, test, and troubleshoot electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical assemblies with shipboard/shore based RADAR and radio systems. Work shall include recommending changes or modifications to improve the operation or the quality of electronic and/or mechanical products and equipment.
Required Skills
Required Qualifications and Experience:
6+ years of specific experience with RF communications and/or radar systems
Proof of supporting technical schools, whether military or civilian.
While not required, Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline is desirable.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or be able to obtain or reestablish this level of clearance
Desired Skills:
Demonstrated ability to determine methods, operations and sequences in setting procedures for constructing, testing, troubleshooting, repair processing, and modifying electronic and mechanical products and equipment as required.
Ability to operate and maintain portable and non-portable RF electronic transmitter and receiver equipment, measuring and control equipment, microwave amplifiers, transmission lines, power supplies, network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and antenna systems.
Understand and have the ability to create and maintain test documents. Understanding of military specifications related to build, test and system checkout of electronic systems, specifically MIL-STD-454.
Have the ability to build, assemble and test RF cables, power and control cables; build be able to solder and assemble PCB board in accordance to schematics.
Ability to review and understand system electrical and mechanical drawings for the following systems:
AN/TPX-42A(V) series Amphibious Air Traffic Control Direct Altitude and Identification (AATC DAIR)
AN/GPN-22 Precision Approach RADAR
While specific system knowledge is not required, having similar system experience, particularly with surface and air search RADAR operation is highly desired. This position will require working closely with engineers and technicians of various disciplines in a Depot Level Repair activity. This work is currently on a long term and stable contract with the U.S. Navy.
Required Experience
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, & Professional Association), Mandatory:
Vocational School program graduate in Electronic Controls or HVAC systems.
Five (5) years' experience working on direct digital controllers and energy management control systems.
Working knowledge of pneumatic controls.
Possesses the ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
High school diploma or equivalency.
Current state driver's license, acceptable driving record and proof of valid insurance.
Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards.
Familiarity with facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional & courteous manner in diverse situations.
Proficiency and knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools.
Demonstrated working ability read, write, speak and understand English.
Preferred:
Associates degree (electronics, mechanical, or electrical engineering) or Seven (7) years' experience in a temperature control manufacture company with factory school certifications.
Understanding of instrumentation and control system for FMS and energy and control Systems, boiler/heating systems, air conditioning and ventilation systems. This includes experience with Metasys (Johnson controls) Network 800 (Barber Coleman), System 10/10, Trane Tracer, and System 600 (Landis Gyr), Honeywell, and Siebe Systems.
Ability to use technical manuals, technical bulletins or manufacturer's specifications while performing maintenance, troubleshooting or corrective repairs to electrical systems, generators and associated.
Military experience.
Previous experience working on a military installation.
Experience working on Tinker facilities.
Familiarity with military-specific facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
