Position: Administrative Assistant
Department: Modesto Corps
Supervisor: Operations Manager, Corps Officers
Status: Non-Exempt/Full Time (40 Hours Weekly)

OVERVIEW:
The Administrative Assistant is the chief liaison between the Corps Officers and all donors, the public, members of the Advisory Organizations and Headquarters. The Administrative Assistant performs a variety of highly responsible, confidential and complex secretarial and administrative duties, provides information and assistance to the public and partner agencies, performed in keeping with the mission and vision of The Salvation Army in Modesto.
RequirementsDUTIES:
? Serve as point of contact for calls, visitors and mail; respond to sensitive requests for information and assistance; resolve community concerns and complaints.
? Interpret Army policies and procedures in response to inquiries and complaints; refer inquiries as
appropriate.
? Participate and assist in the administration of the Corps Officers and Operational Manager's offices.
? Independently respond to letters and general correspondence of a routine nature.
? Initiate and maintain a variety of files and maintain manuals and update resource materials.
? Writing, processing, coordination and distribution of monthly newsletters, social media and webpage. ? Assist in preparing Advisory Organizations' agenda items, record accurate Advisory Organizations and
Committee minutes, and submit to interested parties in a timely manner.
? Organize and coordinate holiday projects as needed.
? Assist in the implementation of community fundraising events such as the Kettle Kick-off and Kids Day. ? Attend local training and Salvation Army conferences as recommended and approved.
? Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of an AA degree in related field or the equivalent of 5 years of progressive responsibility in
a comparable workplace and associated duties.
? Must have a valid CA license, must be able to pass a criminal background check.
? Knowledge of Salvation Army practices and organization desirable.
? Must have the ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule.
? Must have the ability to address multiple projects in a time-sensitive manner.
Ability to interact with volunteers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with
The Salvation Army Mission Statement.
? Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
? Possess self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive task without lowering the quality of work.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills

? Strong organizational skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes
continuous basis; ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
? Ability to hear, understand and speak clearly and concisely in fashion that others can understand.
