Description:
Provide diagnostic evaluations of the auditory and vestibular systems and aid in assessing the neurological status of adults and children. Provide direction, counseling, and recommendations regarding the rehabilitation of hearing impaired patients. Determine whether severely hearing impaired patients are candidates for cochlear implant surgery. Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
Essential Responsibilities:
Selects, performs, and interprets diagnostic test data for: Pediatric and geriatric populations, vestibular function, and facial nerve integrity.
Counsels patients and informs them of future therapeutic plans.
Provides mobile diagnostic services for inpatients, ICU, NICU, and operative patients.
Performs evaluations, assessments, and referrals for hearing aids.
Keeps accurate and comprehensive records in patient's medical chart and department-based files.
Performs daily equipment biological calibrations, maintains equipment, and initiates requests for repair.
Instructs monthly patient education class.
Assists families with placement into appropriate education setting for hearing-impaired children.
Serves as a resource for hearing and vestibular assessment (and rehabilitation) to physicians, paraprofessionals, and patients regarding hearing health diagnostics and care.
Maintains professional competency.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience

Education
Master's or Doctorate degree in Audiology required.
License, Certification, Registration
Current California Audiologist license required prior to the first day of employment.
Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association required prior to the first day of employment.
National Provider Identifier Number required prior to the first day of employment.
