Job Summary
JOB OVERVIEW
UCSF's Office of Communications is seeking a Digital Engagement Manager (1-year contract) to provide communications support for the University's main digital channels, including UCSF.edu, social media, and email, as well as general communications support for our office.

This role will conceive, research, write, and promote content aimed at engaging online audiences, inspiring our community from awareness to action.

A member of the Digital Communications Team and also supporting the Brand Communications Team, s/he will report to the Assistant Director, Audience Engagement.

In addition to producing digital content, this role will manage key UCSF-wide communications resources, such as the UCSF Events Calendar and email accounts where the UCSF community can submit questions about the UCSF brand and social media guidelines.

The successful candidate is a tech-savvy communicator, a creative problem-solver, and passionate about great storytelling. S/he ideally has a strong understanding of brand management and experience in a client-focused role. The role requires excellent judgment, critical thinking, streamlined and professional communication, and quick turnaround in a fast-paced working environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

* Researching and producing original multimedia content primarily for UCSF's main social media channels, including science, health care, and community stories
* Writing e-newsletter copy and social media posts that promote UCSF.edu news articles and announcements
* Maintaining an editorial calendar tracking email, web, and social media communications
* Optimizing content for social media platforms, which will include tagging URLs, A/B testing, employing audience targeting, among other digital marketing tactics
* Monitoring and managing UCSF's social media conversations
* Creating reports demonstrating successful reach and engagement achieved on promotional channels
* Managing the back-end administration of department digital media tools
* Engaging, guiding and managing internal partners around the best application of UCSF's brand
* Providing email response support for the department's resource accounts.

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a communications or marketing related field
* Two to five years of working experience in digital media, public relations, or journalism
* Professional experience working with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram in a branding or journalism context
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Photoshop
* Skilled understanding of brand principles and management
* Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, style, and punctuation
* Ability to write clear, lively, engaging and compelling copy in a variety of styles appropriate to target audiences and/or the broader public, while ensuring adherence to the brand message
* Thorough research and fact verification skills
* Superior interpersonal communications skills, including active listening and effective collaboration skills
* Thorough analytical and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications
* Basic knowledge of content management systems and HTML
* Basic knowledge of iMovie, Final Cut or other video editing software
* Skill in iPhone photography and/or videography
* Thorough understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work
* Thorough understanding of organization's processes, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations for digital communications
* Background in customer service/customer experience and design principles
