Job Description
Join Cardno's Science & Environmental team in Concord, CA to play an integral role in planning and permitting, to support a technically and geographically diverse team.

Job Description:

Cardno is currently seeking a planning and permitting specialist to support a technically and geographically diverse team of professionals in California. The ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting CEQA and NEPA projects (energy sector preferred). Other areas of interest include: water/water quality, wetland delineation and/or mitigation, permitting (including agency coordination), due diligence, impact assessments, NEPA, listed species etc. Types of projects may include but are not limited to: transportation, electrical transmission, generation (thermal/hydro/solar/wind) and storage; residential and commercial permitting, water resources, natural gas pipelines, and other energy related projects. An understanding of the informational requirements of key permits at the local, state, national level (e.g. NEPA, CEQA, ESA, CWA, etc.) is essential. The successful candidate will work with senior staff to deliver the agreed, defined project deliverable's on time, within budget, and of the quality that is in accordance with Cardno and client business, technical and HSE requirements, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications Required:


> BS with appropriate work experience.
> Experience in data entry and data management.
> Support teams in the preparation of CEQA/NEPA documents

> Provide planning support to complex projects

> Attention to detail.
> Experience working with Google Earth required.

> Minimum BS degree in engineering/geology (civil, environmental, chemical, mechanical or geotechnical) or related science with 2-5 years of environmental consulting experience

> Experience with linear permitting on transportation or power sector environmental permitting, planning, biology, projects

> Strong client satisfaction track record

> Demonstrated commitment to safety

> Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgement

> Ability to multi-task and set priorities

> Ability to adapt the team and organization in a changing/dynamic environment

> Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and flexibility

> Ability to coordinate with a team composed of Cardno and subcontractor staff to maintain efficiencies and meet deadlines

> Ability to analyze and interpret common scientific journal and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

> Ability to write reports and business correspondence

> Excellent verbal and written communication skills

> Working knowledge of State (CA) and Federal regulations
