Job Summary

Installs, tests, and repairs electronic components such as computers, radar systems, telemetry equipment and missile control systems. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Qualification Standards

Previous experience or training required. Must know all phases of basic electronic theory. Must have working knowledge of functional operations of electronic units and systems. Ability to comprehend written and verbal information (in English) required. Must be able to lift tools and materials, to work at heights and to work any shift. Must be able to manipulate tools and materials. Must be able to recognize and avoid potential hazards, which are commonly present in the employee's work area. Must be able to hear warning signals, read, and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings.

Essential Job Tasks

1. Aligns, adjusts and calibrates equipment according to specifications.

2. Calibrate testing instruments.

3. Maintains records of repairs, calibrations and tests.

4. Works with schematics and wiring charts.

Materials, Tools Equipment, Work Aids

Works on variety of electronic components using hand tools and testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, ammeter, synchro scope and calibration charts.

Physical/Mental Involvement

Lifting/carrying tools and parts weighing over 50 lbs. on a frequent basis. Standing, walking, bending, sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, reaching, kneeling, handling, fingering, feeling, eye/hand/foot coordination, seeing, hearing. Selecting appropriate tools for jobs, reading interpreting test information, maintaining constant safety awareness, counting and placing wires with precision.

Keeps various records up to date, including hours worked on various jobs throughout the day.

Environmental Factors

Exposed to fumes, odors, dust and gases. Exposed to electrical wire that may cause electrical shock. Exposed to moving machines and mechanical parts. Temperatures and ventilation may cause discomfort. Exposed to high levels of constant noise.
