Wet Glue Litho Press Operator

Department: Production


Reports to: WG Production Manager and Team Leaders


Responsibilities:

  • Plan jobs - ie: print sequence, coatings, etc.

  • Check all job components paper, plates and ink are on hand and correct before
    the MR process is to start.

  • Assemble Job as per job requirements.

  • Make ready & run stock allocated to achieve specified quoted standards.

  • Monitor job quality, sheet distortion, sheet register and color while running.

  • Ensure quality & quantity of all jobs are produced with an adequate number of
    press sheets for all press passes.

  • Ensure machine is maintained & area is kept clean to 5S standards.

  • Maintenance of dampening solutions, greasing/oiling of all daily/annual and biannual
    lubrication points are maintained.

  • Report all maintenance requirements to management.

  • Assist in wash ups.

  • Responsible for training 2nd press operators.

  • Responsible for following Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Coordinate duties between Lead and 2nd press operators.

  • Fill out Job Record and department sheet.

  • Pull random sheets in 1000 sheet intervals and record date, operator initials
    and corresponding sheet number in the press load.

  • Record all job-related information to the WG job data base, print out all new
    information added to the data collection system and attach sheet to job
    bag before placing in job cabinet.

  • Responsible for meeting and setting standards in time & material.

  • Achieve the highest print quality with minimal waste.

  • Ensure the work area is safe and free of any safety hazards. Report all safety
    issues to management.

  • Request Global Changes to the job specifications if different than the job bag.

  • Keep accurate records of discrepant material and the issues related to the
    discrepant material.
