Job Description

To assist the Press Operator in leading the press crew in the everyday operation of the press, to ensure that the Press is Operating in the safest possible manner, that the quality of the produced product exceeds our customer's expectations and that performance goals are achieved. Must assist each Press Crew during the make-ready to reduce make-ready times on all presses. To perform this job successfully, an individual must obey all Safety procedures. Individual must have excellent attendance, be able to work independently and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must be able to achieve and maintain GPI Quality Standards
  • Must be able to Assist in the Operation of a 4-7 unit Sheet Fed Press.
  • Must be able to Learn to Set-Up and Operate Coating Unit.
  • Must be able to Lead Crew when needed.
  • Must be able to Train New Members on the Press.
  • Must be able to work with Minimal Supervision
  • Must be able to Learn how to achieve and maintain proper Ink and Water Balance
  • Must be able to Learn to Troubleshoot Quality and Press issues and resolve.
  • Must be able to Learn to Fully OperateSAP System.
  • Must keep Press Department Leads and Manager informed of needed machine repairs.
  • Must follow ALL department procedures
  • Must follow ALL GPI procedures
  • All other duties as assigned
Required Skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Minimum of 1-3 years in Wide Format Four Color Printing

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

RCRA TRAINING:

Must complete RCRA Training to be able to properly handle any hazardous waste made within the printing process.
