HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION

The Merchandising Warehouse Supervisor supports San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance's mission and vision of saving species worldwide by uniting our expertise in animal care and conservation science with our dedication to inspiring passion for nature and leading the fight against extinction. The Merchandising Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing receiving, delivery, and fulfillment processes. This position reports to the Director of Warehouse Operations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Responsible for oversight of Warehouse staff including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, performance management and terminations
• Consistently ensure proper level of supplies for operating the warehouse
• Create and maintain Warehouse safety procedures while continuously making improvements to ensure the highest levels of safety in Warehouse operations
• Ensure that best practices, policies, and procedures developed by SDZWA are properly assigned and that staff is knowledgeable and in compliance
• Act as a liaison between Warehouse team and Retail Operations teams
• Ensure communication protocols are in place and updated as needed for all Warehouse operations
• Collaborate with buying and inventory teams ensuring high output in terms of team productivity and cohesion.
• Identify, present and implement opportunities for efficiencies in receiving, delivery, and fulfillment processes
• Administer the maintenance program of warehouse equipment and vehicles

JOB EXPERIENCE

• Lead or Supervisory experience in a distribution warehouse required
• Experience working with represented labor preferred

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in business management, hospitality, or a related field required
• California Driver License in good standing

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledge of computer-based inventory control, warehousing systems
• Must have knowledge of accounting practices as applied to retail or warehousing
• Demonstrated ability to lead highly effective teams
• Knowledge of Warehouse operations, facility and equipment
• Able to operate moderately complex computer software programs
• Work effectively with individuals, groups or teams in a diverse environment
• Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
• Knowledge of best practices in the management of inventory
• Strong working knowledge of retail and/or warehouse operations
