Overview

Waters is seeking a dynamic individual for the role of Field Technical Support Specialist in the San Francisco District. The primary role of the Technical Support Specialist is to act as a technical resource for the sales and specialist team, including performing system demonstrations, delivering technical seminars and working with customers on advanced training and troubleshooting, The desired candidate has extensive experience with LC and LC/MS technologies and a broad familiarity with analytical chemistry techniques.

This position is based in the Waters district office in Pleasanton, CA and supports the San Francisco Bay Area and Pacific Northwest. Occasional (up to 25%) overnight travel may be required for supporting customers outside of California.

Responsibilities
    Provide technical expertise for local sales team and specialists for Waters systems, software and applications including ACQUITY UPLC, HPLC, UPC2, SFC, mass spectrometry and LC/MS systems, Empower and MassLynx software.
  • Perform demonstrations of hardware and software capabilities for potential customers.
  • Deliver presentations and seminars on technical advances and new technologies.
  • Visit customers for system installation assistance, training and application support to ensure customer success.
  • Build technical competency on Waters solutions and be perceived by customers as a valued resource.
  • Stay current and informed on industry and market trends.
  • Represent Waters at industry trade shows and customer events.
  • Facilitate customer and internal events at the regional Pleasanton, CA office.
Qualifications

Education:

  • BS/Masters/PhD in a scientific discipline (e.g. chemistry, biology or biochemistry) or a science-related field of study

Experience:

  • 3+ years chromatography experience.

Skills:

  • Strong technical background in analytical technologies, especially LC and LC/MS
  • Action oriented and self-driven for results
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent organization / planning / time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a good listener
  • Mature disposition, positive attitude and strong sense of commitment
  • Adaptive to dynamic and changing environment
