Infrastructure Engineer - 1099 TRAVEL REQUIRED

This role will almost be completely done at customer site. Candidates can live anywhere, but will travel to the military base our exercises are being performed at to support our work. Lodging and transportation will be covered, per diem paid by location and an hourly compensation rate.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, setup and maintain SMEIR deployments on IDS-owned and customer-owned hardware.
  • Install and maintain departmental IT services, including those used by our Development team.
  • Maintain and administer virtual and physical computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware and configurations.
  • Perform disaster recovery operations and data backups.
  • Protect data, software, and hardware by developing network security measures.
  • Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems.
  • Work with the Development team to create new or maintain existing automation and orchestration capabilities.
  • Maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions produced by the Development team.
  • Work with customers during demonstrations, installations, and support processes.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two or more of the following:
    • At least five (5) years of network engineer, systems engineer, or infrastructure operations experience
    • At least two (2) years' experience with VMware ESX, vCenter.
    • At least two (2) years' experience with scripting languages, such as shell script, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with automation tools, such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Working knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, and HTTPS).
  • Ability to explain system specifications and functionality to customers, and ability to collect and transfer customer requirements to specific technical tasks.
  • Active Secret clearance (or higher).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a government contractor.
  • Experience in a cybersecurity or cyber warfare industry.
  • Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes, microservices, and container orchestration.
  • Experience working as part of an IT service delivery team and familiarity with ITIL concepts.
  • Familiarity with DoD RMF.

Computer Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing. Most positions require ability to work on a desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time. Computer activities include reading, reviewing and analyzing information, as well as providing recommendations, summaries, and reports in written or verbal format. Additionally, positions require ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; as well as speak and hear.

Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
