Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Mid-level Engineer with experience in fire protection systems analysis and testing in our Baltimore, MD office. This position requires experience and interest in passive fire protection systems for structural applications, including building cladding applications and fire-resistance analysis for compliance with building codes, performance-based structural fire design applications, and fire testing support.

Responsibilities

The position will apply advanced engineering skills for supporting clients in material evaluation studies, guiding standard or prototype fire testing for material assessment and product development, engineering judgement preparation, assisting with design/construction projects, conducting onsite investigations of passive fire protection issues, and developing novel passive fire protection solutions in performance-based design projects with steel, concrete, masonry and timber framing.

You will work with a dynamic, experienced team of engineers involved in A/E projects, industrial applications, client-based research projects, forensic studies, DoD applications, and testing programs.

Qualifications
    Master's degree or higher in Engineering or related field (civil, structural, or fire protection engineering preferred)
  • 5+ years' experience in fire protection engineering, with demonstrated experience in passive fire protection testing and evaluation, behavior of materials in fire, and performance-based structural fire design
  • Knowledge of the International Building Code, relevant ASTM and UL standards, and use of fire resistance rated assemblies desirable.
  • Fire testing experience related to evaluating material fire resistance and passive fire protection evaluation; experience with material flammability desirable
  • Experience in fire dynamics, thermal modeling, and/or structural analysis desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated abilities to collaborate with peers and clients in multiple locations
  • Project Management experience desirable
  • E. in fire protection engineering desirable
