This is an exciting opportunity for a person with 6 -10 years' experience operating a water or wastewater facility combined with maintenance experience to join Brown and Caldwell's growing Operations and Maintenance consulting team. The right person for this position will leverage their hands-on experience operating and/or maintaining a treatment plant, water distribution or wastewater collection system; performing start up and commissioning activities, and developing, implementing or enhancing operations and maintenance programs. Detailed Description:

The ideal candidate for this position will have worked in a water or wastewater utility as a certified operator performing day to day operations and maintenance activities. The ability to develop sound operations troubleshooting skills to assist client staff in investigating and resolving operational problems in facilities and systems is essential. Knowledge and ability to assist in the optimization of plant operations to improve performance or save costs in labor, chemicals and energy is required. In addition to being a certified operator, experience in developing, implementing, and optimizing a maintenance program is core to the expertise needed to successfully fill this position. Although this position is primarily technical in nature, the candidate must also possess appropriate communication skills to participate in client workshops and participate effectively in a business development activities. The ability to develop and execute start up and commissioning assistance plans in project delivery is essential in this position.

The operations and maintenance projects beyond start up and commissioning are usually focused on providing training on plant operations processes and developing Operations and Maintenance Manuals. Thus, the ability to develop content of the traditional or electronic O&M manuals is a must. This involves written documentation and developing the training materials associated with educating clients on the content of the O&M Manuals. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communications skills being able to effectively relate and communicate with a wide variety of utility staff from various backgrounds.

The position does require the candidate to be able to travel all over the US and have the physical ability to access water and wastewater plants, collection or distribution systems and pump stations, and on rare occasions confined space locations. Although you will be part of a team the candidate may work on many projects with no other consulting O&M staff present, therefore, requires the candidate to have self-confidence and be comfortable using technology required to work remotely.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 10 years of operations and maintenance experience
  • Current Water Treatment Operator Certification or Current Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification/License
  • Startup and Commissioning of plant processes and equipment
  • Troubleshooting of plant processes and equipment
  • Training development and delivery experience
  • Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation or linear system maintenance experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling is preferred
  • Ability to work with CMMS database
  • Knowledge of or experience with predictive maintenance tools (Thermography, Vibration Analysis, Oil Analysis) a plus
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) experience or certification is a plus
  • Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA) experience a plus
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to travel 50-65%
