Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking an electrical engineer to join our team in the West Region, primarily supporting Fire & Building Safety design and other professional consulting projects. The selected candidate must have access to a metro area airport. Preferred locations for this position are Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver or California. The successful candidate will work on various electrical design projects that range from safety and reliability operations to cutting edge research and development in all areas related to facility safety.

Responsibilities

This position involves analyzing power distribution systems, recommending design changes, and creating analysis and design packages for commercial, industrial, governmental, and nuclear facilities. Typical analyses performed include arc flash, short circuit, protective device coordination, power flow and stability, and electrical component sizing evaluations.

Depending upon the level of experience, the successful candidate will grow into having project management responsibilities for larger projects. These include client interface, schedule preparation, cost estimating, proposal writing, and monitoring project performance.

Qualifications

BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university required

5 or more years related experience in Electrical Engineering

Experience in power flow distribution software (e.g., EasyPower, SKM, or ETAP) is required.

Experience in the commercial design process (Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents) is preferred but not required.

Experience in AutoCAD or REVIT is preferred but not required.

Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

Good communications and writing skills are required.

The individual must be physically capable of performing walkdowns in facilities, plants, and substations.

Periodic travel is required to validate field conditions and configurations and typically lasts a few days to two weeks at a time. Total travel time is typically around 15% per year.
