Jensen Hughes is seeking Building/Life Safety and Fire Protection Code Consultants in the Bay area at our Concord, California office. The ideal candidate could be located anywhere in Northern California and the role potentially can be hybrid. We are a leading fire protection consulting firm providing a range of professional services involving building/fire code consulting, accessibility consulting, fire alarm and fire protection system design, security consulting, and performance-based fire protection design on a wide variety of projects across the U.S. and internationally.

We are looking for highly motivated, experienced individuals to add to our growing team. The successful applicant will have a well-rounded background in building code and fire code consulting and possess strong analytical and creative thinking skills. The position will coordinate and conduct building plan reviews, interpret the building/fire codes, develop alternative solutions, prepare building design reports and coordinate with fire protection engineering design teams.

Management and implementation of a wide variety of consulting projects.
• Satisfy client needs and expectations by completing assigned tasks on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate and conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits.
• Preparation and peer review of project-related technical reports.
• Develop fire protection strategies, performance-based design approaches, and alternative solutions to resolve client design issues.
• Effectively communicate with project team members, clients, and others.

• Typically requires 8+ years of progressive experience in Building Code and Fire Protection Consulting.
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering (preferably Fire Protection), Architecture, or related field.
• Registered Professional Engineer or other professional designation preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and conducting field reviews/inspections.
• Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, enjoy professional challenges, and endeavor to be an integral part of the long-term growth of Jensen Hughes.
• Fire alarm and/or sprinkler system design knowledge/experience is a plus.
• Healthcare, Commercial and Industrial Fire Protection experience is a plus.
