What's the Opportunity?

Position Title: Environmental Field Technician - Shared Technical Services

Anchor QEA is seeking part-time environmental field technicians to support active projects in the Northeastern US and specifically in western Massachusetts, upstate New York, and the New York City metropolitan area. The successful candidate will be able to work alongside others in a fast-paced environment, be enthusiastic about his/her work with a strong commitment to health and safety and technical excellence. This position is currently being offered as a part-time position, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time permanent position.




Responsibilities:

  • Support construction monitoring activities, including air monitoring, water quality monitoring and/or environmental sample collection (in-water and on land)
  • Support site investigation teams including environmental sample collection, monitoring well development and testing
  • Perform groundwater sampling and product recovery duties at various Anchor QEA project locations in the northeastern US and New York City metropolitan area
  • Collection and field processing of fish species for testing and population surveys with the use of a variety of techniques including netting and electrofishing.
  • Wetland delineations and surveys of restored wetlands
  • Aquatic plant surveys to include identification and mapping
  • Record field notes to the specific task performed at each site
  • Follow Anchor QEA policies and procedures including, but not limited to environmental health and safety, quality assurance and control
  • Responsibilities may include general equipment management and maintenance duties
  • Regular travel away from home office is required.




What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Associates degree and minimum of 1 year of related fieldwork experience; or High School Diploma/GED and 3+ years of related fieldwork experience.
  • The ability to work closely with other technical specialists as part of a larger project team
  • Familiarity with digital field technology (GPS, use of field tablets for data collection) is preferred but not required
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred but not required. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training will be required and provided by Anchor QEA if this certification has not been obtained.
  • Must have a good driving record and able to drive a company vehicle.
  • Small vessel experience and/or boaters certification a plus.
  • Drug and alcohol screening, along with a background check are required.
