Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to work in our Research and Development, forensic, and investigative testing laboratory located in our Baltimore, MD fire office. This position requires experience and interest in construction (welding, fabrication, light machining), wiring and electrical work to set-up lab testing experiments, basic fire-fighting skills, safety monitoring and lab maintenance.

Responsibilities
    Preparation of test specimens (construction, painting, welding, fabrication, etc.)
  • Instrumentation, video, photographic documentation
  • Assist in live fire testing
  • Assist in fire scene investigations
  • Evidence handling
  • Equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Client interfacing during testing
  • General clean up duties
Qualifications
  • Minimum of High School Diploma (advanced degree in a Science/Engineering related field a plus)
  • 4 - 6 years technical experience
  • Ability to operate basic laboratory equipment
  • Must be dependable with a good attendance record, safety record and safety attitude
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot
  • A desire to maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Desire to become responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the laboratory
  • Computer literate (familiarity with Excel and Word)
  • Construction/carpentry, instrumentation/electrical, plumbing, welding skills a plus
  • Current forklift and scissor lift certification a plus
  • Firefighter training a plus
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs
  • Must have agility of the wrists, arms and hands
  • Must be able to stoop, squat and bend as well as push, pull and lift objects and/or equipment of various weight size and design.
  • Must have good eyesight for close inspection work.
  • Must be capable of climbing ladders and work at elevated heights
