What's the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time, junior-level engineer located in one of our upstate New York offices (Saratoga Springs, New York), to support our local project teams with civil and environmental engineering design and construction management of environmental remediation and demolition projects. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow, is a quick learner, is detail-orientated, is a committed team player, is open to travel/fieldwork, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. The applicant will preferably have 0-2 years of experience with engineering design including site investigation, construction drawings and specifications, cost estimating, and construction oversight. Prior experience with engineering design, environmental demolition projects, soil and groundwater investigation and remediation is not required, but preferred.




Responsibilities:

  • Preparing engineering calculations, cost estimates, design drawings, and specifications for remediation of contaminated buildings, and remediation of impacted soil and groundwater
  • Developing engineer's cost estimates and construction schedules for designs
  • Writing to support the preparation of sampling and analysis plans, remedial investigation and feasibility study reports, and design documents, including technical specifications
  • Providing construction observation at active remediation project sites
  • Field assignments including conducting environmental sampling (building materials, soil, sediment, groundwater, and water quality) and implementing community air monitoring programs
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of environmental data



What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • BS degree in relevant field (e.g., Civil and/or Environmental Engineering)
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Experience with upland remediation sites and demolition, including the planning and implementation of environmental sampling, data analysis, feasibility studies, and remedial design is desired.
  • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA regulations preferred
  • Understanding of the application of engineering principles to engineering design, including overseeing design implementation in the field (i.e., construction management)
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
  • ArcGIS experience a plus
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pursue Professional Engineering (PE) licensure after requisite experience is obtained
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not certified)
  • Experience with environmental sampling and data analysis
  • Ability to travel for field and/or construction projects
  • Ability to pass standard drug screen
