SET THE COURSE

The Sr. Sports Assortment and Inventory Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing forecasts for Men's and Women's Sports within assigned product categories and/or teams across all business channels. You will create SKU level inventory plans to ensure the right product is delivered at the right time to meet customer demand and company objectives. The Sr. Sports Assortment and Inventory Manager will work with cross functional partners to help develop long-term category planning strategies that align with production, fabric commitments, and embroidery strategies. You will be an objective Omni Channel business partner to WS Sales, DTC Merchandising, Allocation, Demand Planning, and Merchandise Financial Planning to help deliver clear, thoughtful, fact-based business decisions. You will collaborate and influence these key cross functional partners to inform pre-season and in-season risks & opportunities.

BE THE ISLAND GUIDE

Assortment/Marketing Intelligence:

  • Develop an understanding of channels/customers, competitors, and retail trends in the sports apparel market.

  • Partner with cross functional teams to understand demand forecast drivers - marketing, key item placement in stores, emails, allocation strategy, new accounts, sporting events and timelines, etc.

  • Use historical sales data to help develop the right style count for assortments or collections to drive SKU productivity. Drive consensus on proposed seasonal assortment across business channels.

  • Develop and maintain the line planning documentation for a complete product line - including silhouette/style/color plan teams, fit/sizing vision, flow plan, and pricing strategies by channel, by sport, by team for Men's and Women's.

Forecast/Buying:

  • Identify shifts and trends in the marketplace by developing and analyzing sales across product assortments with a focus on how it affects the customer demand. Develop reporting and data modeling to support this initiative by team/color/gender/style/customer.

  • Develop detailed forecasts for the DTC and Wholesale channels at the style/color level and execute forecasts in accordance with deliverable timelines to support vendor & Supply Chain processes.

  • Develop relationships amongst, Design, Sales, DTC teams, and Finance, which will lead to effective knowledge sharing and an optimal consensus forecast to meet company service objectives. Hold cross-functional meetings for alignment on final forecast.

  • Consolidate Retail, eCommerce and Wholesale sales orders and projections by month to issue purchase orders.

  • Analyze sales against purchases and adjust size scales in-season to maximize sales and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

  • Monitor orders throughout the season and assess if original placed PO's meet sales demand (units and timing) - determine need to chase and/or adjust existing purchase orders to maximize sales and improve inventory health.

  • Partner with Sourcing and Production on monthly booking strategy for long-term carryover styles. Drive planning strategies for core/key programs for new and existing styles.

  • Collaborate with Sourcing & Production to prepare 12-24 month rolling inventory plans based on seasonal requirements to manage capacity plans of each source factory and make fabric commitments.

  • Minimize surcharges by collaborating with the Demand Planning, Sourcing and Production teams on styles with shared fabric.

  • Develop robust reporting for in-season and pre-season sales and inventory. Identify significant variances to plan and provide root cause analysis. Provide leadership with a clear perspective of oversold or excessive inventory levels. Provide special reporting as required (i.e. 3 Year Plan, monthly demand for high volume/multiple delivery product lines, color blank requirements, etc.).

  • Determine and inform Customer Service, Allocations, Wholesale, and DTC teams on styles that are sold up, oversold, or dropped by delivery and season.

Blue Cherry & Production Orders:

  • Set up and maintain seasonal style master in Blue Cherry to include chase dates/days, season codes, exit dates, price changes, etc.

  • Issue and maintain accurate record of all production purchase orders in Blue Cherry. Chase/add or adjust quantities as needed and ensure accuracy of data including cost, dates, and style details.

  • Manage purchase order delivery confirmations.

  • Ensure timely set up and maintenance of costing sheets for all styles in Blue Cherry.

Other:

  • Provide analysis for business improvements related, but not limited to, shipping, inventory, SKU productivity, systems, and process. Constantly strive to improve process efficiency and streamline flow of information. Look for opportunities to automate repetitive and manual processes.

  • Assist with other duties and projects as required to help support the overall business.

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, or equivalent experience

  • 6+ years assortment planning, sales forecasting, allocations, inventory, and production planning experience, planning in a multi-channel environment preferred

  • Experience in retail merchandising or sporting apparel preferred, passion for sports a plus

  • Excellent retail math and analytical skills

  • Advanced MS Excel skills

  • Understanding of database query tools and demand management software

  • Experience developing forecasts without a formal demand planning system

  • Knowledge of the production processes, lead-times, garment construction

  • Proven track record delivering positive revenue, margin, and inventory results to plan

  • Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on all areas of responsibility

  • Able to build and maintain productive relationships with cross-functional teams

  • Effective negotiation and influencing skills with both peers and business partners

  • Ability to participate and lead cross-functional meetings

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Proven ability to proactively identify business issues and develop creative solutions

  • Communicates clearly and effectively - reflecting an appropriate sense of urgency when relevant
