Job Description

Summary:

Responsible for creating documentation of electrical system and sub-system cabling. Documentation will be created in Visio or a similar tool.
Secondary responsibilities will be standard electrical engineering technician responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Experience creating documentation in Visio (or similar tool) that can be applied to the creation of cable documentation.

  • Ability to apply sound engineering practices in the design of electrical system and sub-system cabling.

  • Ability to communicate across many Engineering disciplines to work with and gather information, assuring the final cable design meets all necessary requirements.

  • Provide manufacturing support. This would consist of, identifying second sources for cable components. Evaluate other cabling options when availability becomes an issue, and when requested, support manufacturing with first article inspections.

  • Ability to build prototype cable assemblies from drawing specifications.

  • Capable of testing first of a kind, and one-off cables.

  • Be available for onsite support when necessary

  • Ability to populate, rework, and trouble-shoot printed circuit board assemblies, build up and maintain electronic subassemblies using hand tools and test equipment.

  • Support engineering by submitting purchase orders for components and off-the-shelf assemblies and aiding in receiving these items.

  • Participate in evaluating engineering proposals, technical drawings, or design comments for sound electrical engineering practice or conformance with design criteria.

  • Support of engineering project management by providing time estimates on work.

  • Adhere to company procedure and training requirements.

Qualifications:

a. Required

  • Associates degree or post-Secondary certificate in electronics/engineering and at least 2 years of technician experience in an electronics industry. Suitable work experience in a technically related field may be considered in lieu of formal education.

  • High degree of experience working with Visio or similar tool.

  • Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment, as well as familiarity with shop machinery that may be utilized to fabricate prototype components.

  • Ability to problem solve electronic board issues and provide recommendations.

  • Good computer skills, including the use of standard office software programs including spreadsheets, word-processing, and email applications.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

b. Preferred or Desired

  • IPC-610 certification is a plus.

  • Experience in a full life cycle for medical electronics projects is desirable, including product development, manufactured, and installed base support.
