Job Description

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is comprised of industry-recognized government service firms designated as Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO)-owned and 8(a) certified businesses. The FOCs include Ke`aki Technologies, Laulima Government Solutions, Kupono Government Services, and Kapili Services. Alaka`ina Foundation activities under the 501(c)3 principally benefit the youth of Hawaii through charitable efforts which includes providing innovative educational programs that combine leadership, science & technology, and environmental stewardship.

Laulima Government Solutions is looking for a qualified General Maintenance Technician to support mission functions of the Zahl Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSL) Adelphi Laboratory Center (ALC).

The General Maintenance Technician will:

·       Use service manuals and parts list for tear down, assembling units, and organization/work schedules

·       Perform minor gas/chemical troubleshooting and repair of delivery equipment

·       Make initial evaluations and obtain proper assistance when confronted with problem situations

·       Perform light to moderate facility repair work to include drywall repairs, painting, changing light bulbs, adjusting doors and locks and other similar repairs

·       Properly transfer materials to hazardous waste storage area

·       Use appropriate documentation, equipment and procedures for ensuring proper management of hazardous waste

·       Properly label hazardous waste

·       Follow proper procedures for handling spills/emergencies, pour-up of materials, segregation of compatible materials, preparation for waste/containers for shipment, operation of a forklift

·       Support waste minimization programs/activities

·       Maintain an understanding of applicable hazardous waste laws

·       Support routine and preventive maintenance

·       Utilize Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)

·       Read manufacturer, operator and maintenance manuals to determine maintenance requirements and update the equipment maintenance plans

·       Support the maintaining of a quality program to verify work requests are performed in accordance with customer standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Background: The primary mission of United States Army Garrison, Adelphi Laboratory Center (ALC) is to provide valuable support services and infrastructure to enable scientific research, development, and well-being of the workforce.  ALC serves the Soldier and collaborates with Army science and research by providing excellent lab facilities and support services.

Degree/Education/Certification Requirements: 

·       Must possess Associate's degree in facilities related engineering or architectural field with 2+ years relevant experience in DOD or Industrial Technology-OSHA Industry in the last 15 years

·       Possess a government license to use a fork lift in order to move equipment

·       Must possess a minimum of a secret level security clearance.  Top Secret (TS) preferred.

Required Skills and Experience: 

·       All Contractor personnel performing under this requirement must possess a minimum of a secret level security clearance

·       Demonstrated experience with Gas Alarm, Detection, and Fail-Safe procedures

·       Demonstrated experience with Toxic and Combustible Gas Systems

·       Familiarity with Mil-Ram gas detectors, Honeywell/Notifier converters and controllers, specifically the AFP-3030

·       Experience with system components such as: Central Processing Unit (CPU) with Power Supply; Keypad/Displays; SLC Loops; Network Connections; Annunciators; Audio Systems; Mass Notification Systems

·       Knowledge of Notifier Compatible Equipment: Annunciators; Network Control Modules; Gateways; Detector/Sounder Base; Field Modules (FlashScan, and Clip); Detectors (FlashScan, and Clip)

·       Must be citizens of the United States, either native-born or naturalized

Desired Skills and Experience: 

·       Skills in Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (TGMS)

·       Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to team with industry partners

·       Work exposure on Honeywell Fire & Gas Safe guarding system (PLC).

·       Knowledge about Instrumentation, electrical, communication Drawings

·       Demonstrated experience with project and construction estimating

·       Demonstrated track record of adhering to tight schedules with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

·       Ability to manage multiple and competing resources

·       Knowledge of federal, state and local building and safety codes

·       Must possess outstanding oral and written communication skills

·       Experience with MS Project or equivalent scheduling tool

·       Experience in schedule analysis

·       Working knowledge of the Facilities Condition Index/Assessment model

 

Clearance:

  • Must possess a minimum of a DoD secret level security clearance. Top Secret (TS) preferred.
