Food Safety & Quality Supervisor

Classification: Non-Exempt
Wage: $24.00 hourly
Reports to: Food Safety & Quality Control Manager

Job Description

The Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Supervisor is responsible for ensuring product quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements are maintained for all products.

Essential Functions:
 

  • Review and maintain of all Quality Assurance and Quality Control records, documents, and samples pertaining to HACCP, USDA, and FDA
  • Coordinate activities with regulatory agents such as USDA and FDA
  • Ability to prepare and directly manage internal and third-party customer audits.
  • This person will be instrumental in reviewing food safety processes and procedures.
  • Oversee inspection of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods to ensure the highest quality of products are delivered to customers.
  • Initial and ongoing training of the employees on policies and procedures
  • Daily observations of production processes from preparation to packaging
  • Conduct weekly evaluation of products and ingredients ex. Chef Tables
  • Complete necessary Microbiological testing (internal and external testing) as assigned such as In-house ATP, In-house Listeria Spp., and Silliker Listeria Spp.
  • Attends bi-weekly QA conference calls.
  • Other duties assigned by Unit Manager and/or Corporate Quality Assurance

Other responsibilities and duties will include, but not be limited to:
 
  • Knowledge of internal policies and procedures.
  • Competent in working independently within the area.
  • Ability to solve quality-related problems.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of compliance situations and implement continuous improvement.
  • Knows and follows all safety requirements; strives to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Performs tasks under general supervision.
  • Perform all other duties as directed by the management team.
  • Follow established rules of each unit for entry to building and work areas, properly attired and in compliance with HACCP guidelines for personal hygiene and observe security precautions as mandated by unit management.


Skills and Qualifications
 
  • Proven experience as a Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Supervisor or related experience in a food production environment.
  • BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and SOPs preferred.
  • Knowledge of Food Industry quality and sanitation standards and requirements.
  • Detail-oriented and organizational skills
  • Able to multi-task and work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Computer Literate- Microsoft Office - Word & Excel mandatory
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient in the English language in both written and oral.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold (non-weather).

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.



Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position in a 24/7/365 work environment.
Flexibility with weekdays, evenings and weekend required.
