Overview

TRC is looking for an experienced Structures Representative (Rail Bridges) to join our team in the San Francisco Bay Area, and San Jose, CA area.


Responsibilities

  • The responsibility of the Structures Representative (Rail Bridges) is to manage construction contract compliance for rail bridge construction projects located in the San Francisco Bay Area and San Jose Area.
  • Ensure compliance with the construction contract requirements and shop drawing prepared by contractor.
  • Verify field dimension including vertical and horizontal field control for structures.
  • Oversee staff performing daily field inspections.
  • Prepare Daily diaries and maintains inspection records.
  • Perform constructability reviews.
  • Ability to review submittals including shop drawings, product data, samples, test samples, QA plans submitted by the contractor.
  • Assist Resident Engineer with response to Request for Information from Contractor.
  • Verify compliance with applicable regulations controlling work including CAL/OSHA and SWPPP.
  • Inspects construction progress which may include ensuring procedures and materials comply with specifications; observes work in progress to assure conformance with requirements and acceptable workmanship.
  • Prepare reports, opinions, and recommendations for review by team leaders prior to submission to clients concerning the structures.
  • Ensure conformance with standards, established engineering practices, applicable codes and technical adequacy of design and construction.
  • Keep abreast of new methods and developments.
  • General office administration, including report reproduction, collation and deliveries will also be expected.
  • Performing calculation and acceptance of temporary structures as used in construction of bridges and structures including falsework, temporary shoring, working platforms, temporary supports.
  • Asist with preparing Change Order.
  • Preparation of final as-builts.
  • Assist in inspections to assure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and special provisions on all phases of structural construction such as bridges, foundations, walls, falsework, shoring, and drainage structures.
  • Make grade, alignment, quantity, falsework, and shoring calculations.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract change orders, contract estimates, progress pay estimates, and other documents or reports required for the Project.
  • Coordinate the sampling and testing of construction materials to monitor compliance with contract specifications.
  • Monitor and track Contractor progress.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineer, as well as the Construction Staking and Material Testing consultants.
  • Direct the daily activities of subordinate inspectors.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of bridge or structural construction management as related to major public works projects and a four-year degree in civil engineering is desired.
  • A minimum or four (4) years as a Structural Representative on major public works projects.
  • Knowledge of stress analysis, structural mechanics, and strength of materials.
  • A thorough understanding of Cal-OSHA practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Caltrans and Greenbook construction practices and the physical characteristics and properties of various bridge construction materials including concrete and steel.
  • Experience in the following areas: foundations, pile driving, concrete prestressing, bridge deck construction, cast-in-place wall construction, falsework, and shoring.
  • Ability to work independently. Ability to perform duties in the construction field office and effectively make decisions concerning construction work in progress and solving field problems.
  • Ability to direct the efforts of subordinate inspectors.
  • Ability to use an automatic level and transit for the purpose of verifying line and grade.
  • Thorough understanding of Caltrans field methods, practices, and construction office procedures.

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $150,000 - $200,000. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $200,000.00 /Yr.
