Elma Electronic Inc. is the recognized leader in high quality component and systems manufacturing. We are a global company that designs and manufactures solutions for electronic packaging. We have an excellent opportunity for an Electronics Design Engineer to join our team of professionals. We are looking to fill this position in our Fremont, CA location.

The Electronics Design Engineer will be responsible for designing moderate to complex electrical and electronic circuits for electro-mechanical systems and enclosures relating to the COM Express/VPX/cPCI/ATCA product lines and will provide technical guidance to less senior engineers. This position will report to the VP of Engineering.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Identify, review and analyze in detail customer requirements and come up with comprehensive and optimum solutions in system monitoring and other related functions
  • Generate detailed wiring schematics and diagrams for prototype chassis orders for manufacturing to follow
  • Interface effectively with customer and vendors during product development phase
  • Coordinate the design and design review meetings with design engineers, customers and Elma sales group
  • Provide sustaining support for repeat orders
  • Help sales with technical responses to RFP’s
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues on the assembly floor
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians or production floor personnel.
  • Other various duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
  • BS or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience
  • Proven ability to design moderate to complex AC/DC circuits, generate electrical schematics and perform PCB layout for moderate to complex systems
  • Good product knowledge of Microprocessors, FPGA, Ethernet Controller, PCIe Switches, Bridges.
  • Background in power and power supply engineering
  • Working knowledge of the CADIm/PLM database system
  • Working knowledge of ROI/manage 2000 system
  • Good knowledge of compliance standards (Safety, EMC etc)
  • Proficiency in ORCAD, Cadence, Altium Designer and Altium Vault or similar.
  • Altium Designer experience a definite plus
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Excellent communication skills
