The Scientist II is responsible for participating in the development of new genomics products, making improvements to existing genomics products, and maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment. Documents experiments in a concise and organized manner. Executes experiments independently and evaluates, discusses, presents and explains data of moderate complexity. Works under general direction, but may independently determine and define solutions to experimental problems.
Monitoring and keeping inventory of laboratory supplies
Maintaining essential laboratory equipment
Supporting the development of new molecular products and technologies.
Performing reagent and workflow experiments to prove feasibility, develop, optimize, verify and validate, under the general supervision of a senior level scientist.
Contributing to the development of new procedures and user guides, e.g. Editing and providing technical input.
Following existing protocols.
Working according to product development procedures.
Contributing to the completion of milestones associated with specific project plans.
Developing knowledge of BD Biosciences products through training.
Working under general supervision.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a biological science discipline required; MS degree preferred.
Minimum of 4 years' experience in molecular lab techniques.
Knowledge and Skills:
General knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline.
Demonstrated ability to keep accurate and complete laboratory records and logs.
Minimum with operation of standard laboratory instruments.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experienced in NGS library preparation and sequencing preferred.
Experience analyzing genomics sequencing data using R or Python preferred.
