F5 is looking for a leader for our Identity and Access Management Engineering team. This is an opportunity to impact both our customers and our key internal services here at F5. The role includes working and providing technical leadership with internal F5 teams, product development, and F5 partners and customers. We touch every element of the business: Customer ordering, public web sites, internal fulfillment processes, Product development of cloud services, and many more.

We are looking for a Software Development Manager with strong expertise in designing and supporting enterprise-scale software solutions. You will be responsible for leading the team that designs and implements with a high quality of services of a key service that impacts every F5 customer and employee.

Our mission is central to F5's digital transformation by providing internal F5 teams with a secure, flexible, identity platform upon which to build connected highly personal digital relationships with our customers. We are going to accept digital identities from services like GitHub and other open standards compatible identity services and use them to enable custom, self-service, customer and partner experiences.

Responsibilities

As the team's manager, your leadership will be critical in ensuring engineering rigor and driving innovation in scale, performance and security. You will work with architects and engineers on new designs, articulate technical proposals and roadmap of delivery timelines. You will also have opportunities to incubate new ideas for additional business outcomes, create positive impact through collaboration and deliver high quality of service through service availability. You will be influencing engineers across the org and routinely work with business leaders, so you will need to create and maintain positive and productive working relationships.

You will champion and gain acceptance for your team with the F5 online services and customer fulfillment teams, and from key Product engineering groups across F5. You will work in partnership with them to protect both F5 assets and also F5's wider customer base through improved product and services offerings.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering, or 5 years of equivalent software engineering work experience
  • At least 4 years of experience as a software engineer/developer, coding an object-oriented programming language such as Java, C#, or C++
  • At least 4 years of experience as an engineering lead, dev manager, or lead software engineer; with a focus on mentoring engineers and leading by example to deliver customer solutions spanning multiple teams.
  • Proficiency of security protocols such as SAML, OAuth, OIDC, etc.
  • Enterprise experience with service architecture, design and deployment of large scale distributed systems with focus on scalability, performance and security
  • Flexibility, thinking on your feet, and strong problem solving skills
  • Strong track record dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment
  • Good design and problem-solving skills, with a strong bias for quality and engineering excellence
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective collaborator experienced in building technical partnerships across teams
  • Ability to own and deliver projects and results of increasing technical complexity
